Post number twenty-one is for Stuck in the Middle, a collection of seventeen comics about life as a middle schooler. I'm not going to go on at length about this book, or post any spoilers, so this is going to be short.
This collection had some touching moments and some heartbreaking ones. Being a middle schooler is tough, and this collection touches on that. There are stories about peer pressure, trying to fit in, wanting/demanding independence and realizing that you're not quite ready to be out on your own after all, and some other comics that touch on the touchiness of pre-teens and how argumentative/rather horrid they can be.
This collection was just okay, in my opinion. I really didn't find it anything special, and some of it was kind of obnoxious. That being said, I did like looking at the different comic styles, as each one was written/drawn by someone different (for the most part), and each artist/author had their own unique style. The art was probably the highlight for me overall.
Btw, this week's theme is graphic novels, so all three of this week's required reading assignments were in graphic novel format.
