Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
This week’s Waiting on Wednesday post is for Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy #2) by Wendy Higgins (HarperTeen):
Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a claim. She’d been naive about a lot of things.
Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.
When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?
Why I’m looking forward to this book:
Sweet Evil was a surprising book for me in many ways. It was an angel book, and I haven’t had the best of luck with angel books. But this one was very different – it has a different type of mythology, for one – and while I found myself irritated with our main character several times, I just couldn’t help but enjoy the story and the characters. Add in a bit of forbidden love and Wendy Higgins pretty much sealed the deal for me. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Anna, Kaiden and the rest of the Nephilim. And somehow I’m betting that Kaiden is not going to be pleased in the slightest that Anna’s off with Kopano!
Release Date: April 30, 2013

I can’t wait for this one too!! Love the new cover, except for the fact that Anna’s eyes are half closed… Thought that was weird lol
I haven’t seen this cover before, so thanks for highlighting it! I guess I better read Sweet Evil soon so I can catch up. Glad to hear it has an original twist on the angel mythology.
I adoooored Sweet Evil! I loved the intense romance and the bad boy! I can’t wait to see what Wendy Higgins has for us next!
