Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they will post a new Top Ten list that one of the bloggers there at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join!
Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is our Top Ten Favorite Beginnings/Endings In Books. I decided to go with beginnings, because those were easier to find. I’m not sure how “all-time favorite” these picks really are, but these were ones that struck me as I was going through my Goodreads list that I could also find on Amazon and/or on my Kindle. I actually had a hard time with this topic, because I don’t tend to remember beginning OR ending lines (aside from “All was well,” that is), so hopefully you’ll enjoy the ones I chose.
So that’s what I’ve got for this week! Which beginnings and/or endings did you choose? Please link me!
I really like the beginning of Cinder too (though the ending made my list), and the quote from The Dark Unwinding really catches my attention! :) My TTT list: http://aliceinreaderland.com/2013/07/29/lines/
Alice @ Alice in Readerland
The Dark Unwinding was SO good. One of my favorites from last year. :)
Howl’s Moving Castle is a really good one. And coincidentally, The Night Circus is one of my choices for best beginning, too–that makes me pretty excited to see it on this list!
I loved both Howl’s and The Night Circus. Easily two of my all time favorite books. :)
The beginnings to the Percy Jackson books are always so interesting/amusing xD The beginning of Night Circus was also lovely and intriguing. Great list!

Percy’s first-person point of view is better, but I didn’t have any of those handy. :)
I’ve only read one of these (Cinder) But, Son of Neptune is on my TBR soon list! I can’t wait to dive back into that world.
Great list!

I really liked the beginning of Venom! I actually just finished it. Grave Mercy was also very easy to get into, though its size intimidated me at first. Happy reading!
Howl is brilliant. And I love the beginning of cinder. Such a great book. I think I need to read more from your list – like Venom and the Night Circus. Great list!

Great quotes. I agree Confessions of An Angry Girl has a great beginning!
It definitely puts you right into Rose’s head, doesn’t it? She just absolutely breaks my heart.
Mmm, I love how you’ve done your quotes, pretty cool~~~~
Venom sounds threatening… Though I forgot about Grave Mercy, AS well as Howl’s Moving Castle!!!!
Wonderful list!
I loved Cinder, great book. Looking forward to Cress so much!
Happy reading!

Great list! Love the opening line of the Immortal Rules :)

I totally forgot about the beginning of The Immortal Rules! It sucked me in right away. Loved it. Great choices!

The Dark Unwinding and Venom have totally gripped me just from their quotes. Great picks!
I found it easier to think of favorite beginnings, too. I’ve only read Cinder, but I do love that opening. It really sets the whole Cinderella-in-the-future-who-is-also-a-cyborg theme. :)
I love the opening line for Confessions of an Angry Girl. I need to read that one still, although I do have it checked out from the library. I love the opening (and ending) of The Night Circus. Just thinking about that book makes me want to re-read it. Great list!
LOVE the beginnings of Grave Mercy, Cinder, and Confessions of an Angry Girl!! So many great choices :)
Dang! I still need to read many of these! Croak and The Immortal Rules especially! The quote from Croak just redoubled my interest! And Grave Mercy was a great choice! Love that book!!
Thanks for stopping by!

I love the beginning of any Percy Jackson book! Loved how you included the text :)
Yay! I love almost all the books on your list, and the lines for Croak, Howl and Son of Neptune are especially awesome! :)

Ahaha CROAK, yessss. Finally someone else who appreciates that series like I do.
And Grave Mercy. <3 <3 <3
The Croak series is one of my favorites. I adored both Croak and Scorch, and can’t wait to read Rogue. :)
Love Cinder and The Dark Unwinding!
Love the Venom quote.
Oooh Grave Mercy made my list as well (thought I haven’t read it) and I do love that one from The Night Circus. The one I haven’t read, which sort of caught me off guard while scrolling through these, is the one from Croak! What a start! If that doesn’t get you slightly disturbed but also interested, I’m not sure what does. Haha.
