Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, which is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can read more about the creation of Stacking the Shelves by visiting the official launch page here.

It’s so hard to believe August is here! I go back to work on Tuesday for Orientation Week, and the students start August 12th. I can’t believe how close the school year is! Yesterday I went up to my school and did some serious work on my classroom. It’s actually starting to look halfway put together, although I still have a LOT of things to do. This weekend I’m going to work on little details, like getting the kids’ names on the door decorations and name tags, printing out a couple of cute reading-based posters I found online, etc. I still need to take care of all the bulletin boards, finish sorting the books the previous teacher left for me, and figuring out what to do with all the miscellaneous reading materials. Plus probably a whole bunch of other things I’m totally forgetting about. SO OVERWHELMED! I just need to remember to breathe, and take it one step at a time. Right?

Anyway, I actually haven’t picked up that many books the past two weeks. I’ve been diligently trying to get through some of my outstanding e-galleys, so am glad I don’t have too many more to add to my to-read/review pile. The month of August is going to be made up primarily of e-galleys, because I just really want to get on top of things. And once I get a handle on my galleys, I plan on NOT requesting anything else unless I can read it as soon as I’m approved. Or at least that’s the goal. We’ll see how it actually works out.

Library/Received for Review:

Thank you a ton to St. Martin’s for the finished copies! I received the sequel to Ashes of Twilight a couple weeks ago, but hadn’t read the first, so asked if any copies of it were available. I’m really grateful that they were willing to send me a copy. Look for my reviews of both books in this series within the next two months. I also haven’t read Beneath the Glitter, which is the book that precedes Where Beauty Lies, but am actually not all that interested in the series. So instead, I shall be passing my copy on to Lauren @ Lose Time Reading, who has promised to give it a good home.

E-books/E-Galleys:

Thank you to Disney-Hyperion, EgmontUSA and Angry Robot for the e-galleys! After reading and LOVING The Beautiful and the Cursed, I also had to pick up this novella about Marco. I can’t wait to find the time to squeeze his story in!

So that’s what I picked up the last two weeks. What did you get? Please link me!

I always forget to include the books I get from Netgalley, but I also picked up The Naturals. I’m really excited for that one. I should really focus on my egalleys, too. Recently, I’ve picked up quite a few. I have the last week of August off, so I plan on getting so much reading done.

Wow, school starts so early where you are. School doesn’t start until the day after Labor Day here. In September.

Anyway, good luck on getting everything ready for the school year! Happy reading.

    • Merin says:

Well, we get out before Memorial Day, so in order to do that, we have to start early. I actually don’t mind it, but there’s just SO much to do before Meet the Teacher Night on the 8th!

  7. I so want to read The Naturals! It sounds amazing! I’m so excited to read When the World Was Flat, I have it on my kindle and i’m 3 books away from reading it!

Great haul, enjoy all of your books!

  9. I can’t believe that I haven’t heard of any of these yet! And school starts early for you guys! My younger siblings don’t go back until the end of August, and then I start in September!

Hope you enjoy all of your books!

  10. Same here..I am back on Tuesday and start on August 12th..good on you for going in early..I haven’t done much yet LOL I should have more done for sure though! I am curious about The Chaos of Stars!

    • Merin says:

I didn’t realize you were a teacher! Do you mind me asking where you’re located? I thought we were the only ones to go back so early. Most folks don’t start until closer to Labor Day.

      • I am from GA! The counties over here all start at different times..and I think we get out earlier because it is SO hot in the summer here.

      • Merin says:

Are your schools all air conditioned? Ours didn’t used to be back when I was in elementary school, but they are now. We get out prior to Memorial Day here with the early start, and the heat probably plays a factor in that decision for our superintendent, too.

  11. Ashes of Twilight and The Shadow Prince both look great. I hope you enjoy reading them, and best of luck to you for the upcoming school year!

  12. Ashes of Twilight has such a pretty cover. I think I bought that one for Kindle a while back but I have so many I don’t remember! O_o

    • Merin says:

Haha, I’m really bad about e-books, too. I jump at all those awesome Kindle deals, and then the books just sit there unread. It’s terrible. I should do an e-books only month or something in order to get through some of them!

  13. I go to school in a month and there is no way I’ll be able to finish the books I want to read. Why can’t we have summer for a year? Great haul!

    Followed!

My full haul for July and I actually made an awkward video of myself! Don’t forget to follow via Bloglovin’!

  15. I got Ashes of Twilight and Where Beauty Lies last week! I haven’t had the chance to read either of them yet though.

I read A Spark Unseen – it’s SOOOOOO good! I wonder if it’s the end of the series (duo)… it wraps up really nicely, but I don’t wanna leave Katharine’s world… DON’T LEAVE ME D:

Also, I’m on the tour too! I was wondering when I would get my ARC for the tour… I got it on Tuesday, I think. Hopefully you get yours soon! :)

    Thanks for visiting my blog!
