August TBR Pile

New month, new TBR Pile! This one looks kind of small initially, because I’m going to be participating in ARC August, and all of the ARCs I’m currently planning on reading are on my Kindle, but it’s really not! I set my ARC August goal at 6 galleys, which is probably overly ambitious, but we’ll see how it goes. I also start back to work this month – the first day of school is August 14th – and am going to try something different for my morning routine to maybe possibly actually make it through my first audiobook. I have The Winner’s Curse – which is pictured below – on audio, so may alternate between the two formats while I read that one, and, if there’s time, I’d also like to try to make it through another audiobook as well. You can see my list to choose from below.

August’s List:

  • The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
  • If I Stay by Gayle Forman
  • A Spark Unseen by Sharon Cameron (for ARC August)

[1] audiobook from the below list:

  • The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in A Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente
  • The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
  • We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

And [5] galleys from the following list for ARC August:

  • Magnolia by Kristi Cook
  • Between the Spark and the Burn by April Genevieve Tucholke
  • Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff
  • Terror of the Southlands by Caroline Carson
  • Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang
  • Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy by Karen Foxlee
  • Fates by Lanie Bross
  • Resurrection by Amy Carol Reeves
  • Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaria

Have you read any of these? Which one(s) do you recommend the most?

  1. Wow your school starts back so early. Our schools don’t start until September. Anyway, I’m terrible at listing TBR books because my mood is always changing. Good luck on ARCAugust. I really want to read Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy but I haven’t gotten there yet.

We get out early – before Memorial Day – so that means we have to go back early, too. I’ve been off for two months, though, so I can’t complain overly much. I’m just not quite ready to give up my lazy ways!

I don’t always stick to TBR lists either, but since I’m doing ARC August, and The Winner’s Curse has to go back to the library soon, I figure this one’s pretty set in stone. We’ll just see if I get bored with it or can actually stick with it!

I really want to read the Spark Unseen! It’s been sitting on my shelf for ages!!

I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about The Girl Who Circumnavigated… And I’m planning on reading If I Stay this month too.

I really enjoyed If I Stay and Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy, but haven’t read any of the others.

Side note, our schools start in a few days as well. It is nice when you get out so much earlier than everyone else, but not as nice when you go back before everyone.

    • Merin says:

Oh, gosh, this is so true! A friend of mine (who lives in another state) was lamenting that they only had a month left of their summer break last week. I was cracking up laughing, because mine was essentially over! But I do like getting out before Memorial Day, so. :)
