Waiting on Wednesday #102

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week I’m Waiting on Wednesday for Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra & Dhonielle Clayton (HarperTeen):

tinyprettythingsBlack Swan meets Pretty Little Liars in this soapy, drama-packed novel featuring diverse characters who will do anything to be the prima at their elite ballet school.

Gigi, Bette, and June, three top students at an exclusive Manhattan ballet school, have seen their fair share of drama. Free-spirited new girl Gigi just wants to dance—but the very act might kill her. Privileged New Yorker Bette’s desire to escape the shadow of her ballet star sister brings out a dangerous edge in her. And perfectionist June needs to land a lead role this year or her controlling mother will put an end to her dancing dreams forever. When every dancer is both friend and foe, the girls will sacrifice, manipulate, and backstab to be the best of the best.

Why I’m looking forward to this book:

I am a sucker for books dealing with ballet, which is ridiculous seeing as I have absolutely no dancing talent of my own. I just find something really interesting about the life of a dancer, particularly those that are dedicated and talented enough to get into ballet schools. This one has the added bonus of some girl drama, which – when done correctly – I enjoy reading about, particularly if it drives the book along. Also, I love that there is absolutely no mention of any love interests; how often in YA does THAT happen?

Release Date: May 26, 2015

  1. Drama AND ballet! Nice! This one would be great at the high school library. I have quite a few girls who are in dance and on dance team who this might appeal to. Nice pick. Happy reading.

Thanks for visiting! I love receiving comments and do my best to respond to all of them. However, due to time constraints, this blog is now an award and tag free zone. I really appreciate the thought, but just don't have the time to pass them on.
