Since I was just getting involved with book blogging last year, I didn’t really try to complete any challenges. However, I’ve seen a few that sound really interesting – and will also help me clear out some titles from my TBR pile! – so I’m going to attempt a few of those challenges this year. Below is the list of challenges I’m planning on attempting in 2013, complete with links if you should decide to give them a whirl as well!
Challenge Name: Debut Author Challenge
Host: Tara @ Hobbitsies
Status: COMPLETE
Challenge Name: Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge
Host: Melissa @ Melissa’s Eclectic Bookshelf
I’m doing the Initiate Level, so will be reading 1-5 books (goal is to read all five!).
List of Books to Read (as of 12/15/12):
The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
Star Cursed (Cahill Witch Chronicles #2) by Jessica Spotswood (Completed 5/14)
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins (Completed 6/26)
Audrey’s Guide to Witchcraft by Jody Gehrman
Challenge Name: 2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge
Host: Assorted – See link for details
This challenge’s goal is clear off your to-read pile! Books for this challenge must have been published in 2012 or earlier; NO 2013 releases allowed! For this challenge, I am going to attempt the A Firm Handshake Level (1 – 10 books). Since you can only go up, not down, I figured I’d better start with the lowest level.
List of Books to Read (as of 12/15/12):
Black City by Elizabeth Richards (Completed 5/28)
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg
Paranormalcy by Kiersten White
Everneath by Brodie Ashton
Speechless by Hannah Harrington
Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent
Storm by Bridget Kemmerer
Unofficial Challenges
I also have an “unofficial” challenge to myself to read at least five “classic” titles. I’ve had these titles on my shelves for ages, so this will help me clear them off my to-read list – which will count toward the TBR Challenge just above – and also help broaden my usual genres.
List of Books to Read (as of 12/15/12):
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
The Iliad by Homer
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
So that’s my list of challenges for 2013! It looks a bit ambitious now that I’ve written it out, but hopefully I’ll manage all the same.
