Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
This week I’m Waiting on Wednesday for The House of Hades (Heroes of Olympus #4) by Rick Riordan (Disney-Hyperion):
NOTE: Summary contains major spoilers for The Mark of Athena.
At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy’s instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea’s forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?
They have no choice. If the demigods don’t succeed, Gaea’s armies will never die. They have no time. In about a month, the Romans will march on Camp Half-Blood. The stakes are higher than ever in this adventure that dives into the depths of Tartarus.
Why I’m looking forward to this book:
Because the ending of The Mark of Athena nearly killed me. I MUST know what will happen next, and how they’re going to fix everything. Also, I desperately want to know who’s going to narrate this story! Considering “Hades” is in the title, does that mean we may actually get a Nico point of view? One can only hope. Plus, this is a Rick Riordan book, and I will literally read pretty much anything he slaps his name on!
Release Date: October 8, 2013
What are you waiting on this week? Please link me!
I know how you feel about Mark of Athena!!! I cannot wait until House of Hades is released. I wanna cry every time I see that cover because PERCY AND ANNABETH OMG.
I KNOW. The cover is amazing. I’m so glad we’re going to be able to see what they’re going through in Tartarus! If we’d had to deal with a book only telling us about what the others were going through I would be seriously upset.
I finally read my first Riordan books last month and loved them! It was the Percy Jackson series though so I don’t know much about these but they sound good!
My Waiting on Wednesday
This is the sequel series, so it has some of the same characters as the PJ books. Percy is a main character, although he doesn’t appear in person until the second book in this series. :)
Confession time.. I haven’t read any of Rick Riordan’s books! D: Everyone seems to be in love with them or excited for the next one, and I want to get to them soon. Even my non-bookish friend has been telling me to check them out, so I guess that proves that I really SHOULD read them asap haha :D
My Waiting on Wednesday :)
I need to finally read this series!
Read the Percy Jackson & the Olympians books first. They’re the first series, and this one is part of the sequel series. I adore Percy, particularly his first-person, full of snark point of view. :)
I’m in the same boat. If Rick Riordan wrote it, I will read it. NICO!!! He grew on me so much as the books went on, but I will always be in love with Percy. He’s ma fave.
Oh, Percy is my absolute favorite, too. I just think a Nico point of view would be really amazing, since we’ve never gotten to really see things through his eyes. But Hazel is the lead-off point of view for The House of Hades, and I don’t know if he’d give us both Nico AND Hazel in the same book. Guess we’ll find out in October!
Who knows, right? I’m still kind of bummed that the movies aren’t as good. I’m of the frame of mind that it would have made a better cartoon TV show, but a really well-done one, that way they can include all their mischieves!
It looks like they’re trying to fix their mistakes with the first film in Sea of Monsters. It looks really well done, effects-wise, so I guess we’ll have to see. I’m definitely going to go see it regardless. :)
Ya same XD And I’m still over the moon with the casting of Percy (some of the other casting is hit and miss). Who doesn’t love Logan Lerman?? Are you going to see it opening night?
Yes, definitely. Logan as Percy was an amazing choice. He’s fabulous. And yes, I am. I’m going to drag my mom to go with me, because I don’t think anyone else will want to. I got her to read all the books, and she loves them!
That’s amazing! I got my brothers to read them, but they’re too cool to go with their big sister to see it XD
Well, I’m her movie companion for the Hunger Games films (I am that lone person who found the first HG book SO depressing that she didn’t read the rest of them), so it’s only fair. :)
