Stacking the Shelves #52

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, which is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can read more about the creation of Stacking the Shelves by visiting the official launch page here.

So, I sort of had a pretty epic week in terms of book hauls. I don’t know WHAT is wrong with me,  but I did terribly staying away from the galley sites. It didn’t help that Crown of Midnight went up on NetGalley, which I HAD to request, and then found others that I just “had” to request, and, seriously, it is a vicious cycle. Thank goodness I have a whole summer to read, right?

That being said, this was my first full week of summer break, and I did a whole lot of nothing. And it was GLORIOUS. I got a lot of books read, prepped for my Month of Me (by which I mean, I requested some “me” titles from the library, hurrah!), and watched a whole lot of French Open tennis. I also redid my ratings graphics (adding text to my stars), which made me stupidly happy. Considering that I was pretty graphics illiterate when I started this blog, little accomplishments like that make me smile. I also was supposed to go to a Cardinals game Friday night and see fireworks but we had terrible storms come through so they postponed the game until Saturday at 12:15. So I will be there then, although I am bummed about the fireworks. But it’s better to be safe than sorry, and several people in surrounding areas got tons of damage, so we’re very lucky.

Anyway! You’re here for the books, so let’s not blather on anymore. Here’s my book haul!

Purchased:

Library Picks:

I actually bought the last three books listed under purchased last week and forgot to include them. In the Shadow of Blackbirds isn’t pictured because I gave it to my mom and told her she had to read it. :D

E-books/E-Galleys:

Thank you SO MUCH to HarperCollins, Bloomsbury Children’s, Macmillan and Disney-Hyperion for the e-galleys! I’m super excited to read all of these, but especially Crown of Midnight. ♥

So that’s what I picked up this week! What did you get? Please link me! Like I mentioned above, I will be at the Cardinals game tomorrow afternoon but will return comments when I get home!

Upcoming Reviews

Born of Illusion by Teri Brown

Because June is my Month of Me, I’m not going to be scheduling reviews for the next month, aside from a blog tour stop. When I finish a book, I will probably review it, but can’t say with any certainty what I’ll be reading when. But here are some books you can keep an eye out for that I’m definitely going to read at some point this month!

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
The Demon King (Seven Realms #1) by Cinda Williams Chima

I’m also going to attempt to listen to my first audiobook! I think I’m generally too ADHD to make it through one in its entirety – let’s face it, 14+ hours for some of these books is a LONG time! – but I’ve heard that the one I’ve chosen (Beauty Queens by Libba Bray) is particularly good, so we’ll see if I can do it. If so, I will be reviewing that book as well.

I keep seeing people with This Song Will Save Your Life and getting jealous. Haha. I’m currently on the hold queue at my library for The Program. I’ve heard so many good things about it. I’m sort of tired of dystopians, but a lot of people say it almost reads like a contemporary.

  10. Yayy :) Your month of you has begun !! I can’t wait to see your reviews!! I’m glad your enjoying your time off!

You are the reason I went ahead and bought the Spell Bound and Demonglass, since you said I’d probably want to read them right after finishing Hex Hall. They were fairly cheap on Amazon, too, so it was hard to pass them up! :)

  11. Really great haul this week. Crown of Midnight is so gorgeous. I want bloomsbury to process my request right now!!! I’m dying!

  19. Enjoy the Hex Hall books! The series is great :)

  20. Molli says:

I am going to NG today to get Crown of Midnight. It’s going to be my reward for finishing my last physical galley from when I went way overboard. I should finish it today, then I’ll have COM to look forward to! CHAOL!

Also, The Program! I really really hope my library gets itttttttt.

    • Merin says:

I was really surprised at how quick they were to get The Program in. A lot of times it takes FOREVER for new non-series YA titles to be ordered.

And yes, Chaol! I like him so much more than Dorian.

  21. Sassy Spratt says:

Great haul, looks like you have a lot of happy reading ahead of you! I just read an loved Hex Hall and am eager to purchase the other books in the series, so I hope you enjoy those :)

Eleanor & Park!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, you’re gonna love it (I think). I love that book so much. Netgalley and Edelweiss are too good to pass up, sometimes, aren’t they? I try to control myself. Sometimes I’m successful, and sometimes not so much. Anyway, I hope you have a great time off of work for the summer.

  23. Kristy F says:

The Program and Eleanor & Park are both amazing!! I can’t wait to get into All Our Yesterdays! Great haul and thanks for stopping by my blog! Sorry this is so late! :)

Thanks for visiting! I love receiving comments and do my best to respond to all of them. However, due to time constraints, this blog is now an award and tag free zone. I really appreciate the thought, but just don't have the time to pass them on.
