Stacking the Shelves #48

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, which is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. You can read more about the creation of Stacking the Shelves by visiting the official launch page here.

First off, let me squee excitedly over my new blog design! Isn’t it pretty? I was really tired of my previous layout and wanted a change, but am completely layout illiterate. Nancy from Nancy’s Blog Designs was amazing, working until I was completely happy, and willing to go back and forth while I fought to make up my mind. She was so helpful and easy to work with. I wholeheartedly recommend her!

I was bad this week and broke my galley site ban, thanks to Lauren who had to mention that Fire With Fire was available on Edelweiss. I couldn’t stop myself from requesting, since this is one of my most anticipated 2013 releases. Bad, Merin! I also got approved for a couple other titles that I’d actually requested ages ago, plus picked up my May Random Reads pick from the library. May is going to be a crazy busy reading month for me, because I want to try to get all of my pending e-galleys read in preparation for my Month of Me that I’m having in June (wherein I read only what I want, when I want, in celebration of my birthday). I’m also participating in my first “official” read-along! Add in the usual end of the school year stress – we get out May 23rd, hurrah! – including standardized testing, completing the state report for my school’s library, etc., and I have a TON to do. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t counting down the days!

  3. Love the new design it’s really pretty.
Team Human sounds so much fun, still haven’t managed to snag a copy. Happy reading.

    • Merin says:

Thanks! Team Human is my Random Reads pick, which is the only reason I’m going to read it this month. I’ve been wanting to for a while, but really haven’t had the time!

  4. Alicia♥ says:

New designs always make me feel new, refreshed and all ready to start blogging! I’m really eager for school to break too, all the essays and assignments are coming in giant tsunami waves ahh *dies*

Heard great things about The Shadow of Blackbirds and Team Human, hope they’ll be great for you too! :)

    • Merin says:

Well, I’m not IN school, I just work at a school, so at least don’t have coursework to complete! The students I work with are pretty crazy and ready for summer, though, so it’s been insane at my building the past few weeks. :)

  5. Quinn says:

Oooo, love the new design! It’s so pretty. I really want to read Fairest of All. I love me some fairytales. I go in streaks with requesting egalleys. Sometimes I request soooo many, and then there will be a month or two where nothing grabs my interested.

Excited for your Me Month in June. Such a great idea!

Enjoy your goodies and happy reading :)

    • Merin says:

I can pretty much always find something on the sites that I want to read, so when I’m already full up to the ears with galleys it’s really just better if I stay away completely. :-P

One of my Goodreads friends did the Me Month last year, and is actually doing it right now (her month is May), and it reinforced my belief that it would be a definite good thing. I’m excited to finally be able to read some of the books I’ve had to set aside due to e-galleys!

  6. Team Human looks really interesting :) I’ve been really curious about it for a while now! Awesome haul.
